How to Make Dahl


I make dahl a few times each week.  It is very inexpensive, easy, and rich in iron and protein.

Ingredients:

Split Red Lentils (Masoor Dahl)
Turmeric Powder
Cumin Seeds
Chili Powder
Clarified Butter or Ghee
Cilantro
Tomatoes
Onions

Step 1

Put 1 cup red lentils into a Pan.

Put 1-3 cups of water into pan covering lentils and soak 10 minutes in water.

Use moderate heat and bring to boil while adding: turmeric ½ tsp, salt to taste, and tomatoes. You want to make the lentils mushy.

Step 2

Add:

Cumin Seeds ½ tsp
Chili Powder ¼ tsp
Onions dice
Cilantro
Clarified Butter or Ghee 2 Tbsp or enough to give it taste

Cook until ingredients are dissolved

Step 3

Add everything together
