Issa (1763-1827)

Kobayashi Issa (1763–1827) was a haiku master and one of the best haiku poets. He was born in Kashiwabara in Nagano Prefecture in Japan. Issa’s mother died early, but his father re-married. His stepmother mistreated him and sent him to Tokyo (Edo) where he learned haiku. He was poor and had to travel and work hard until his fifties.

I’d invite you

To share my supper
